Southeast Wisconsin Chapter # 190

From President, Clay Frazer

Welcome to our website! Here you will find information on all of the great things that we do with the money raised here in Southeast Wisconsin, from local habitat projects that benefit not only pheasants but all wildlife, to youth education that insures the future of conservation. Please check back often as we have a lot to showcase here in Southeast Wisconsin.

We have been awarded WI DNR Pheasant Stamp Grant Funds!

Are you considering implementing a wildlife habitat project on your land? Pheasants Forever would like to help pay you to establish and maintain high quality nesting and brood rearing habitat for Ring-Necked Pheasants and other wildlife species.

The Southeast Wisconsin Chapter of Pheasants Forever has been awarded Wisconsin DNR Pheasant Stamp grant funds to be spent on the establishment and maintenance of native nesting cover in southern Wisconsin. This means mixed stands of native prairie grasses and wildflowers.

Our chapter has committed to matching a portion of “cost-share” funds that Pheasant Stamp dollars provide. Pheasants Forever will pay landowners/land stewards directly a retroactive reimbursement after native seeding or native prairie maintenance (i.e. prairie restoration, brush clearing, prescribed burning, or mowing maintenance) has been performed.

Landowners will have the option of hiring a professional contractor to oversee a habitat project or conducting the work on their own. High standards of quality in terms of methods and products must be adhered to in either case. Chapter volunteers will assess the viability of a project and award funds based on the potential impact to wildlife habitat. An agreement form must also be signed. This agreement form can be viewed on our web page.

Cost share funding will be dispensed by the Southeast Wisconsin Chapter of Pheasants Forever through the end of 2011. Call or e-mail Habitat Chairman Ken Baranowski @ (414) 828-9610 for details.

Mark your calendars... our Spring Banquet is scheduled for Saturday Night March 27 2010. Doors open at 4:00 and dinner will be at 6:30.
